After the cracked screen incident, the technology community is continuing to stir when some iPhone Duo folding phones have gaps, called Gapgate.

iPhone Duo went on sale on October 23 and quickly faced a situation where the internal screen cracked and light streaks appeared after just a few hours of use. Over the weekend, some Apple folding phone users continued to share images showing unusual gaps on the sides of the device or around the hinge area, even wide enough to see the internal components.

According to PhoneArena, this assembly error named Gapgate by the community not only causes loss of IP68 water resistance but also creates additional mechanical pressure on the chassis, easily leading to the risk of screen damage.

The lack of a protective layer at both ends of the hinge, a design that rival brands like Samsung often do to prevent dirt and sand from getting in, also makes many people criticize Apple for its shortcomings in optimizing the first generation's mechanics. Although not yet common, the new error is attracting attention because it appears that some iPhone Duo are having problems right from the assembly stage.

Meanwhile, according to MacRumors, in a leaked internal notice, Apple confirmed the screen error phenomenon and instructed Apple Store employees to find ways to repair broken devices when customers bring them in. In case the problem cannot be fixed and the store still has the device available, the employee will exchange the phone for the customer.

Apple has not announced any plans to recall the iPhone Duo and has not yet implemented a public repair program on its website related to the screen crack issue. However, two consecutive incidents made users worried. On forums, some said they decided to cancel their iPhone Duo orders for fear of receiving a defective device with a price of up to 2,000 USD.

Meanwhile, PhoneArena quoted technology experts giving familiar advice that "you should be careful with first generation product lines", especially when they have too high prices and pose potential risks because the technology cannot be perfected in the first generation.
