Expert Mark Gurman said that Apple's decision to pre-order the iPhone Duo globally on October 16 was a "serious mistake".

"Let's be frank: Apple made a big mistake here," Bloomberg's technology expert said, adding that the company was aware of severe supply constraints but still placed pre-orders on the product. "It's clear that the company prioritizes getting the device to market early in the first fiscal quarter over meeting demand."

According to Mark Gurman, Apple initially plans to only sell iPhone Duo in the US and China before expanding to other markets. However, in the end, the company still opened sales in more than 70 countries and territories at the same time.

Macrumors said that less than 30 minutes after pre-ordering on October 16, the expected delivery time of iPhone Duo was pushed back to the end of January 2027 in most markets. In Vietnam, Apple Store Online and other major systems are out of stock and deliver the first batch within 5 minutes.

The iPhone manufacturer has not confirmed whether users can directly buy the folding phone model at the store on October 23. Sharing on Financial Times, Apple affirmed that demand for the iPhone Duo "far exceeds all expectations" and the company is "making every effort to bring this revolutionary product to customers as quickly as possible".

The company is said to be facing "severe supply constraints" due to production challenges. Previously, some information said that the rate of finished products meeting standards at assembly partners was just over 60% and factories like Foxconn may even need more than a year to stabilize the line.

In Vietnam, iPhone Duo has a starting price of 64.99 million for the 256 GB version and a highest price of 103.99 million VND for the 2 TB version, equivalent to some high-end computer models. Users have two color options: Star White and Night Sky.
