Xiaomi has opened a crowdfunding program for the Mijia 3KG Shoe Washing Machine model on the Youpin platform in China, after introducing the device last week. The product has a fundraising price of 799 yuan, equivalent to about 2.95 million VND. After this period, the standard retail price will increase to 1,299 yuan, equivalent to about 4.8 million VND.

This is a top-load washing machine model with a compact design, specialized for cleaning shoes. The device has Xiaomi's familiar matte white color scheme and occupies a floor area of ​​about 0.18 m², suitable for placement on a balcony or corner of the laundry room. The company recommends leaving a minimum space of 50 mm behind the machine when installing.

The machine uses a rotating tray washing system that combines brushes on the bottom and sides of the washing drum. Instead of just constantly turning the shoe, the device creates a high-speed water stream so that water passes through the upper, sole and inner lining of the shoe. The physical brushes assist in removing common dirt, mud and grass stains.

Xiaomi recommends using 5 to 8 grams of low-foam detergent or specialized detergent for shoes. Users should also remove large pieces of mud before putting shoes into the machine to avoid clogging the drainage line.

With a capacity of 3 kg, the number of shoes that can be washed at a time depends on the size. The machine can wash up to 3 pairs of children's shoes under size 25, 2 pairs of shoes in sizes 25 to 30 or one pair of adult shoes up to size 43. The device is aimed at regular sneakers, canvas shoes and sports sandals. Xiaomi does not recommend using the machine for leather shoes, expensive shoes or products with decorative details that are easily damaged when exposed to water and brushes.

Notably, the quick mode does not require users to remove shoe laces before washing. The machine also has a disinfection mode, which Xiaomi announced is capable of eliminating 99% of Trichophyton rubrum fungus, the agent often associated with athlete's foot, along with high rates of bacteria such as E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

To handle sand and dirt left behind after washing muddy shoes, the device has an additional drum-cleaning cycle. The machine also comes with a rotating tray and replaceable filters. According to Xiaomi, users can exchange the internal parts to wash pet accessories or heavily soiled household items, limiting the risk of cross-contamination with regular clothes.
